The German Patent

A national German Patent gives the owner a comparable large scope of protection - especially because of the significance of the German market within the European Community - with comparable little investment - the official fees for application and substantial examniation including a patent search by the patent office are appr. 450 EUR.

Further, the German patent usually issues in much shorter time than a patent according to the European Patent Convention (EPC). With a first application in Germany, the patent office issues a first office action within 7 to 9 months. A patent may even issue within 12 months, i.e. before the priority date. This provides a solid basis for further (international) applications.

DTS offers the full range of prosecution including all necessary formal and legal aspects, especially for foreign applicants. Since a German patent application may even be filed in a foreign language as long as a translation is provided within three months, DTS can provide a swift service and file aplications even on short notice.
